A Meaningful Remembrance Day

Students, staff and guests participated in a very meaningful Remembrance Day Service today.  During the service Mrs. Katerina Mertikas, a grandmother in our community and an artist, presented the school with her original painting Honouring My Father which was painted last year after the tragic events at the War Memorial.  The painting inspired an author to write a book called We Stand On Guard for Thee.  Mrs. Mertikas illustrated the book.  Today she read the book during the service bringing a message of hope, mercy and love.  Our students, as we enter into the new liturgical year of Mercy, will be challenged to live to be their BEST SELF and to LET PEACE BEGIN WITH ME.

Many people questioned about where the book could be purchased.  As soon as the information is available, it will be posted on the web site.  All royalties from the book will be donated in support of children , including the Department of National Defence family resources centres across Canada.  All publisher's costs incurred in the preparation of the book will also be donated in support of the above causes.
